A Trip Through Louisiana History

Today the kids experienced a culture lesson from Louisiana. Many of them have lived here their whole 12 years of existence and never been to the Louisiana Museum or State Capital. The fun facts learned today was a culture experience for the children and some of the adults as well. Everyone took away something they didn't have prior knowledge of. It was a day filled with fun activities and lots of sight seeing. The city of Baton Rouge is a beautiful place and they got to see how it came about.

PASTA-day

Today a variety of pasta was made by the kids. They used shrimp, chicken, ground turkey and a wide variety of noodles. Each group added their own touch to traditional pastas by adding mushrooms, spinach or their choice of an assortment of cheeses. The chef contributed to the meal jaguar punch, salad, garlic bread and a cherry cobbler.

Breakfast Specialties

Today the kids created untraditional breakfast foods. Instead of you typical grits and eggs for breakfast they baked casseroles and crescent rolls containing their favorite breakfast items. By adding apples and different chesses some unique dishes were made.

MILK AND CEREAL!!!!

Today the food topic was cereal. All the kids raised their hands when asked who eats cereal for breakfast. The lesson was based around the types of cereals and what you can add to the ones that aren't as sweet to make them delicious. Many of the cereal consumed for breakfast are consumed with sugar. The kids we given a worksheet to help them better understand food labels. After the lesson was over the kids enjoyed a brunch of a variety of cereals . They were able to add berries or bananas to there favorite cereals to have their own creations.
